Bongo Tryout
Poor Efram! He’s not having much luck finding his instrument for the band.
Just a quick note about Nuki’s drum and her reference to her grandpa. In Japanese folklore, tanuki have certain magical attributes that benefit restauranteurs, one of which is that they beat on their bellies like a drum to attract customers (sometimes it’s another part of their anatomy, but this is a family show, folks). So I figured that a drum would be a precious tanuki family heirloom, something to let the kids practice on before they’re ready to use their magical powers.

I like the trumpet better, but this was pretty funny on it’s own.

Don’t worry- the trumpet is Efram’s instrument, for obvious reasons, so it’ll make other appearances, but for the bluegrass band he needs something more subtle.

I guess we won’t be seeing Pompoko-like powers from Tanuki Nuki.
