The Big 2-5

All right! We made it to 25 comics with only a few hiccups. I’m operating with no buffer right now, which I mean to change- life got in the way and the comic had to take a backseat to things like my sisters wedding, a cold, the election, and a bedroom remodel. But y’know, I’m encouraged to learn that even some highly respected pros operate without a buffer, and as this is more of an experiment than a stab at so-called professional cartoondom, I don’t feel too bad.

So what have we learned here? I considered dropping color because I’d be able to focus on linework and get the comics out faster, but I’ve gotten a lot of unsolicited feedback about how people are enjoying my color. So it stays. I have a pretty steady supply of visits to the site, and as such I feel obligated to meet even a self-imposed deadline. That’s great news. I’m feeling pretty free about the format and subject matter right now, and I kind of want to wander away from my five main characters for a while and explore the world I’m building. I’m still not sure how best to do that, so expect some discontinuity in the next couple of weeks.

I personally think that color is an important part of the snoogle zoo mentality. Look at your site for goodness sake. It is pastel, cute, candy coated, and exactly what we want from snoogle zoo. A black and white episode would feel out of place IMHO.

So, in other words, I’m glad to hear you are sticking to color.

And yeah, deadlines are a bitch. I haven’t been as good about Yamatologic as of late… I think the week I went to vegas I had one post that whole week. But, I forgive myself and move on. I know people (I think you may know who I am speaking about!) who have a set back and it causes them to want to catch up and then they don’t get nearly as much done because of all the pressure to catch up!

So, I take a lesson and just go, “Well, back to business!”

I know the comic creation process is probably more like the vlogging business than that simple blogging I’m doing these days, so I’m not one to say much! Funny thing about YD was that we never had a buffer per se, but certain episodes that one of us would be working on in the background so that if an ep wasn’t looking like it was going to make it for the week, we’d kick ass on that one that was being worked on slowly in the background.

Anyway, I’m just babbling at this point, but I totally feel ya! Keep it up! If you can make it through the holidays, you can make it to 100 no prob! XD
